We’re in Olympia for a couple days recording some tracks with Calvin for a couple 7”s that oughta be ready early this Spring. I love this place.
We recorded this Carter Family track a couple years back all huddled around a diner table in Charlottesville, Virginia with Markly from the band LAKE who put this thang together and look, it’s done, and looks so pretty and it’s got Golden Boots and Calvin Johnson and R. Stevie Moore and Peter Stampfel and on and on. Have a listen.
This beautiful new Fleet Foxes video features the characters and artwork of our friend Stacey Rozich. Stacey’s also responsible for the artwork on our album “We Creeling”.
We’ve got two dates coming up with Scout Niblett! I’ve seen her all over the country and it’s always a treat. 11.30 we’re in Oly at the Olympia Film Society backstage, and 12.1 at the Comet in Seattle. Details: http://krecs.com/shows/
This Thursday we’re be opening and closing for the Colson Whitehead who’s on a book tour in support of his new novel Zone One. That’s him holding the elevator. The book’s about zombies and I’m not usually into that kinda thing but I’m reading it now and I can not put it down. This is part of the Stranger’s Verse Chorus Verse reading series combining books music and bars and it’s always a good time. Starts early: doors at 6:30, show at 7. At Chop Suey. More info at the Stranger’s site here.
